Chai-tea for me. You for Coffee!

Whether its brewed in tea pots that are made of tin, porcelain, glass, cast iron, ceramic pots, or simply a lonesome bag squashed against the side of a cracked mug, it’s still tea and we just love it!

We drink it from tea cups, mugs, flasks, glasses and now bottles too since the introduction of all the iced varieties hit the high street shelves.

It’s a fact that the new world of beverages is forever changing. When the coffee craze hit in the 1990s, everyone and anyone could be spotted with a latte or frothy cappuccino in hand. What's funny is that folk have always drank coffee on a daily basis, but almost overnight it was transformed into something much more appealing than just some ole ground beans in a coffee pot. There were java drinks of all shapes and sizes, and to suit every taste.

Recent times have seen another popular trend burst onto the beverage market, and it's called Chai tea. Most of you that have frequented any of the popular coffee houses recently would have certainly seen Chai tea somewhere on the menus.

Chai tea is a real big seller these days. It’s a pleasant spicy blend, but without that drab earl grey flavor. What’s nice about the introduction of Chai tea and other exotic teas is that it offers a choice for the non-coffee drinkers amongst us. Don't care for a shot of espresso? Then try a nice cup of Chai tea or Chai latte. I recall the first time I tested this new brew. I was craving for something different, but wanted a break from warm traditional tea .

It was suggested by the barista that I try a Chai tea latte. I remember thinking, what the heck is that? I watched curiously as she blended a liquid tea with full milk, and then poured it over ice. It actually looked comparable to an iced coffee. Well, it only took one swig and I was hooked. This drink was absolutely delicious. I later discovered that you can buy this Chai blend in either a powder or a liquid form, however, most people seem to vouch for the liquid for a fuller flavour

So, if coffee is not really your cup of tea (forgive the pun), you now have similar options in the leaves as well as beans. Whether you like your hot tea, iced tea, or even blended drinks, you can have the lot with Chai tea . If you haven't checked out the local grocer, it's time to do so. You will find a variety of Chai teas that can easily be blended with milk or even soy milk to make a tasty drink in just seconds.

Believe it or not, it's actually easier than making a coffee latte, and I have to admit it's somewhat healthier too than taking in all of those coffee toxins. If you're one of the few who can’t stomach coffee, like my sister, you really should give Chai tea a go. I got my entire family to try it out and all of them think it's simply great.

Why not surf the web and see what the fuss is all about, or just head over to your local coffee shop for a sampler. I’m yet to see a coffee shop that hasn’t included this refreshing new drink to their list of options. This new-age spiced tea comes in all shapes and sizes, and certainly isn't any of that old stuffy English tea that you try to avoid at breakfast. Give Chai tea or latte a try today. Real tasty tea options for non-coffee drinkers!
